I have done a number of paintings of sailboats in winter with tarps, snow and skies. Canvas tarps used to be the standard but now it is mostly plastic. You don’t get much snow on the plastic and come to think of it, all that snow sitting on the tarps shows a bad tarp job or forgotten boats waiting for summer
