Christmas Cove is in South Bristol Maine. The name derives from Captain John Smith having dropped anchor here in the winter of 1614. The scene depicts an early summer morning with the sunrise at about 5:00 AM. A sailor raises his mainsail in the calm morning air, getting ready for the day’s destination. We have sailed into the harbor many times and it is great destination by boat or car.
